HOW TO CARE FOR YOUR SKIN DURING WINTER TIME?

Many of us love winter – The crispy cool air, the beautiful white snow lighting up the dark days, the icy lace decorating the corner of the window. Cuddling up in front of the fire place, warm, cozy clothing and fun activities outside!
Although winter can be so much fun, it´s not the best time of the year for our skin. The harsh wind, the low temperature, sauna and heaters at home are sure to make our skin feel itchy, dry and irritated. To keep your skin healthy during the winter months, it's important to give it some extra attention.

WINTER CLEANSING

Even in the winter, it's important to properly cleanse your skin. Pollution, excess sebum, and makeup can all build up on your skin and should be gently but effectively washed away. Avoid using cleansers that contain SLS and soap, as these can strip the skin's protective barrier and lead to irritation, dryness, or oily skin. A cleansing oil can be a great option as it removes impurities while also nourishing the skin. For a deeper clean, consider using a probiotic revitalizing cleanser. Double cleansing, where you cleanse the skin twice, can be especially helpful if you wear makeup. The first cleanse removes the makeup and impurities, while the second cleanse focuses on the surface of the face.
Peeling, or removing dead skin cells and deep impurities, is also an important part of winter skin care. This helps to maintain the health and condition of your skin.

MOISTURAIZING

Did you know that using a toner is an important step in moisturizing your skin. It helps to prepare your skin for the serums and creams you use, ensuring that they are absorbed properly. Instead of using a cotton pad, try tapping a generous amount of toner, or facial mist, onto your skin. You can also add multiple layers of Kajo Probiotic Facial Mist for extra pampering. Remember to tap the mist onto your skin to avoid pulling away moisture as it evaporates. If you want to refresh your skin during the day, you can spritz a layer of mist on top of your makeup, letting it settle naturally.
To moisturize and protect your skin, look for creams and serums with high levels of oils and vegetable butters, as well as ingredients like urea or glycerin. Face oils can also be helpful, especially when used in combination with hyaluronic acid. These products help to moisturize and lubricate the skin, as well as create a protective layer to prevent water evaporation. A serum can be a great addition to your winter skin care routine, and our bi-phase serum works well for all skin types. For added nourishment, consider using a thick, nourishing cream like our Arctic Moisturizing Cream before bed.

HYDRATION

Drinking plenty of water is important for maintaining healthy skin year-round. It helps to flush out toxins and keep your skin hydrated. In the winter, it's especially important to protect your skin from the drying effects of indoor heat and harsh outdoor conditions. Using a humidifier can help to add moisture to the air, which can in turn help to keep your skin hydrated.

PROTECTION

It's important to protect your skin from the sun's harmful UV rays all year round, but it's especially important in the winter when the sun's rays can be more intense due to the reflection off of the snow. Use a broad-spectrum sunscreen with at least SPF 30 to protect your skin from both UVA and UVB rays.

Overall, taking good care of your skin during the winter months involves proper cleansing, moisturizing, hydration, and protection. By following these tips, you can keep your skin healthy and glowing all winter long.
